New research from the University of Houston College of Optometry looked at the relationship between contact lens compliance and contact lens-related dry eye.
The study measured contact lens compliance with regards to lens care, rub-and-rinse practices, lens and lens case replacement frequency, solution replacement, and sleeping with lenses.
Researchers found that overall compliance rates were not associated with contact lens-related dry eye symptoms. They believe that factors other than compliance likely play a bigger role in contact lens-related dry eye, but mentioned a general need for more patient education regarding contact lens care and compliance.
This research was published in January 2014 in Eye & Contact Lens.
